Bursitis!!! Options

Hello everyone
Wondered if anyone of you have suffered with bursitis as a result of RA? (apparently the bursa are the fluid filled sacks around the joints). I am currently suffering with terrible hip pain and have had an injection into the joint. But I also have a very painful swollen knee which when examined by rheummy she said was bursitis which can be common in RA patients. The pain is just as bad as an inflammed jointSad So not only can I not walk I can't take off my trousers and need help sitting on the toilet. Beyond hate RA!!!!!

OH poor you!

I haven't had bursitis I don't think but unimaginable hip pain...it is just unbelievable and I couldn't even lie down. The steroid into the hip has helped SO much, I am sure yours will too. Rest up loads though to give it time to work properly...

I had it in October and am just feeling the twangs of pain again which is pretty miraculous!

What do they give for bursitis, I think it is an infection? If they give anti-biotics, try and take a good bacteria too

thanks for your reply. You're right, the hip injection is starting to work.....thank godThumpUp
They don't give anything for bursitis as the doc said it's just inflammation so NSAID's are the best bet, which i'm not taking as we're trying to conceive.
I'm trying to keep my feet up but can feel myself starting to rockLOL

Haven't had this Claire but it sounds dreadful. If you can't take the NSAIDs you must take care and rest.

the "old" name for a bursitis of the knee is Housemaids Knee and of the elbow is Tennis Elbow.
Anti-inflammatories and rest are advised. Hope that helps and you are soon feeling better Anne

ouchy i had the twin tennis elbow now found to be very common in fibromyaliga sufferes,ra also.
i had steriod jab to rest up hun.

Hi ya,

I have suffered with a bursitis of the hip and yes it is extremely painful, this was one of the first symptoms I developed which led to diagnosis. Mine was so pronounced it led to my hip becoming partially displaced due to the inflammation.

I was given intense physio which was very helpful and I have always following the recommended prevention exercises, if you can get a referral, I found it invaluable.
